Max Dearing – Producer, Engineer, Educator, Percussionist

Max has been playing drums all of his life and started playing in bands at age 10 and started playing semi-professionally at age 16.

After choosing an education in electronics engineering, he settled down in North Carolina.

After surviving being struck by lightning, at his wife’s encouragement, he started playing music after a lengthy hiatus. Music once more became the center of his life.

His band needed a demo. The price was outrageous and thus he delved into the “home recording” movement.

From there, Max expanded to own and operate the only professional mobile recording studio in North Carolina.

Needing an overdub facility, he also wanted to give back to the music community, and built Dark Pine Studios.

Max teaches recording and accepts interns who are enrolled in academic programs. Interns come from GTCC, Elon University, Appalachian State, UNC Asheville, Middle Tennessee State and others.
